Many appealing options. Rokathir, Maxi Mac Gold and NELSON COUNTY met last time when the first named came out on top. However, Maxi Mac Gold jumped left on that occasion and can do better here, while Nelson County looked bred to stay the 3m2f trip that day but faded and the drop to this trip looks like the right move. Showurappreciation, Built By Ballymore, and Magic McColgan are others who deserve a close look in a fascinating but tricky puzzle. [Denis Harney] Show less
Spotlight: 2m5f maiden hurdle winner ran well upped to 3m for his handicap chase debut here when third (3m, soft to heavy); built on that to comfortably score at Punchestown (2m7f, soft to heavy) and took advantage of his lower hurdles mark here last time, winning by 4l (2m4f, heavy); he's 10lb higher than his Punchestown win but is towards the top of the shortlist.
Spotlight: Point-to-point winner; no further success since Sligo maiden hurdle win in June 2024; second behind Gringo d'Aubrelle in a Listed hurdle here in December; ran over inadequate trips in two January chase runs; 6-1 for Punchestown Grand National Trial (3m4f, heavy) but could only manage eighth; interestingly, Jack Kennedy now rides.
Spotlight: Punchestown maiden hurdle winner was a distant second in the third of her beginners' chase starts at Naas (2m4f, soft); improved for switch to handicaps in a Listed contest back there last time (2m4f, heavy) when making a mistake at the last and being headed in the final strides; up 6lb for that but should be thereabouts.
Spotlight: 0-7 over fences with an 18lb lower mark in this sphere; easily won a Listed hurdle here in December (3m2f, soft to heavy); fell back over fences at Punchestown next time before making a couple of jumping errors when a beaten 5-2 favourite over 3m here in February (heavy); stayed on for third at Leopardstown last time (3m5f, yielding to soft).
Spotlight: On course for a three-timer following a 22l win at Navan (second won easily next time) and victory in a Fairyhouse novice chase last time (3m2f, heavy) with 1l back to Maxi Mac Gold and 4.75l to Nelson County; won't want to see the ground dry out too much but not ruled out.
Spotlight: Cork handicap hurdle winner (3m1f, soft) built upon a decent chasing debut to win a Fairyhouse novice chase by 14l next time (2m6f, yielding); looked bred to stay 3m2f trip in a Fairyhouse novice chase last time but weakened into third behind Rokathir and Maxi Mac Gold; based on that, drop to this trip seems the right move, and it's still early day over fences; interesting.
Spotlight: No wins since two hurdles two seasons ago at around 2m4f; much improved to take third in the Punchestown Grand National Trial in February (3m4f, heavy), coming from further back than first two; may have won a Listed contest at Naas last time (3m1f, soft to heavy) but unseated at the last when jumping into challenger; he's in form and no surprise to see him feature.
Spotlight: Record of 5-13 in points; opened account on the track at the 18th attempt, improving on hunter chase form to land a 2m5f handicap at Fairyhouse off 104 in January (soft); maintained consistency with a promoted third at Thurles last time (2m2f, soft); others preferred.
Spotlight: Point/hurdle/bumper winner was beaten favourite in two beginners' chases before making immediate impact on handicap chase debut at Leopardstown (3m1f, yielding); raised 6lb for that but was never travelling in a Naas Listed event last time (2m4f, heavy); needs to bounce back.
Spotlight: Maiden hurdle winner ran well in a Naas handicap hurdle in February last year off 124 (2m7f, heavy); didn't set the world alight in beginners' chase starts, but much better in a novice chase at Fairyhouse last time (3m2f, heavy); kept on well to take the runner-up spot, 1l behind Rokathir with 3.75l back to Nelson County; jumped left throughout that day so this track can help, however slightly worse off at the weights now.
Spotlight: Dual hurdles winner came good over fences on handicap bow at Clonmel in a novice contest last month (2m2f, heavy) and only narrowly denied off 9lb higher here next time (2m5f, soft to heavy); tongue tie on now after tailed off effort at Naas last time; in the mix if giving his best.
Spotlight: Runner-up on return to action in November at Thurles (2m6f, good to yielding); went one better in a big field at Punchestown (2m3f, yielding to soft) getting off the mark over fences at the fourth attempt; disappointed at Musselburgh last time (3m, good to soft); 6lb higher compared to his win here and others make more appeal.
