These promising mares present a fascinating puzzle, as usual, but the vote goes to INDANNYA who scored over a much shorter trip 16 days ago but had already demonstrated her stamina with a 2m5f win at Warwick on New Year's Eve. Fresh As A Daisy, the Warwick runner-up, is also on the shortlist but topweight Charisma Cat may be the chief danger taking a marked step up in trip, as does Trinity Street who is an interesting outsider judged on her second to Charisma Cat at Chepstow. Betty's Daisy and Watamu complete the shortlist but plenty of others could also be given positive mentions.[Richard Austen] Show less
Spotlight: Marked improvement to win at Windsor in January in her third hurdle race; came from off the pace when fourth of nine at Market Rasen (again 2m, soft) and never got to grips with today's rivals Charisma Cat and Watamu, a result which leaves her with something to find but this is a different trip and her trainer is a dab hand at big handicap wins.
Spotlight: Did well in bumpers and going the right way over hurdles, on last two starts winning at Southwell (2m4f, good to soft) and second at Wincanton (2m5f, heavy); needs further progress in this good race for handicap debut.
Spotlight: 3-5 in bumpers, including a Sandown Listed win on good to soft; won at Chepstow (2m, soft) on third attempt over hurdles and runner-up in the other three; cheekpieces latest (ran creditably); has top weight on this handicap debut but going beyond 2m1f for first time could prove just the ticket.
Spotlight: Won at Warwick (2m5f, good to soft; from Fresh As A Daisy) on second start under rules; floundered in Grade 2 on heavy there next time but no ill effects, as she asserted on run-in at Wincanton (1m7f, good to soft) 16 days ago; back up in trip for this handicap debut and remains capable of better.
Spotlight: Won at Huntingdon on penultimate start; soundly beaten behind Charisma Cat in a Listed race here the time before but put up a far better show against that rival when they were placed at Market Rasen on latest outing; they are closely matched judged on latest result and she has more to offer, including at this longer trip.
Spotlight: Made a winning hurdle debut at Uttoxeter (2m4f, good) last May and put reappearance behind her when chasing home Indannya at Warwick (2m5f, good to soft) on New Year's Eve; more to offer on this handicap debut.
Spotlight: Won two bumpers last term on good to soft; she's failed to match that form over hurdles but second of six on handicap debut at Wetherby (extended 2m3f, soft) last time was at least her best show in this sphere.
Spotlight: Three runs over hurdles, all in the mud and her best result when second to Charisma Cat at Chepstow (2m, soft) in January; made most when well beaten behind her and several more of today's rivals at Market Rasen on latest start; major work to do but she leaves one of the strongest impressions of long-term potential, including over this longer trip.
Spotlight: Tongue tied and made most when clearcut winner at Ludlow (2m5f) and excellent second of 16 at Warwick (2m3f, again good to soft); fluffing the final flight relinquished the initiative last time (Edith Pelham third, Shotgun Shirley fourth) and she's open to further progress on this handicap debut.
Spotlight: Held up; 1-9 over hurdles but 5lb lower than when fourth under Murray Dodd at Cheltenham (2m4f, good to soft) in December, her best form; no match for Indannya or Fresh As A Daisy at Warwick next time, but her latest start (pulled up at Ludlow; tongue tied first time) is the chief worry.
Spotlight: Trailed several of today's rivals at Market Rasen in her second hurdle race but showed that to be all wrong when winning at Southwell (2m5f, soft) 19 days ago, battling back after a bad mistake at the final flight; better is needed for this handicap debut and cheekpieces are added.
Spotlight: Progressed well in bumpers and ran encouragingly behind Betty's Daisy and Edith Pelham when fourth of 16 at Warwick (2m3f, good to soft) on second start over hurdles; she was much further behind Edith Pelham at Southwell 19 days ago, but these are early days for this handicap debutante.
Spotlight: About 11l fourth to Betty's Daisy at Ludlow (2m5f, good to soft) on second start over hurdles; a bit better when coming from the rear for sixth of 12 at Market Rasen (near 2m5f, soft) on latest, which isn't the most persuasive evidence but this handicap debut should give her a better chance.
Spotlight: Ex-French 5yo who won British debut at Windsor (2m, good to soft) in November; backward steps at Uttoxeter (2m6f, heavy) and Carlisle (extended 2m3f, good to soft) leave her with more to prove than plenty of these, although it is her handicap debut.
Spotlight: Has shown a bit of ability in her three points and the two completions over hurdles, but those 18l and 19l defeats in this sphere don't present any solid claims for today's handicap debut; tongue tied first time.
