Spotlight: Quickly developed into a useful novice hurdler last season, winning twice over 2m3f; yet to play his hand when falling just after third-last flight on recent seasonal/handicap debut at Chepstow; still has significant potential and remains of strong interest.
Spotlight: Began last season in excellent form, notably when winning Gerry Feilden at Newbury (2m, good to soft); off since staying on to snatch third in William Hill Hurdle there (2m, soft; first-time cheekpieces) in February but, on that evidence, he's well worth another crack at 2m4f; no headgear today.
Spotlight: Drew 6l clear of Whatsupwithyou on New course here (2m4f, good) at end of last season and is now 4-8 over hurdles; subsequent 8lb rise asks quite a lot of him but further progress is possible.
Spotlight: Had jumping issues over fences last autumn (albeit still managed a win); reverted to hurdling in good form after the turn of the year but resumes on a career-high mark and needs summer wind surgery to enable improvement.
Spotlight: Unexposed 5yo who is a half-brother to stable's top-class hurdler The New One; made all to beat six rivals on recent handicap debut at Stratford (2m2f, good); hiked up in grade here but still has potential.
Spotlight: Dual Festival winner here, more recently in Grand Annual Chase (2m, good to soft) this year; stays 2m4f but was not at best in Galway Plate on latest outing (in July) and is not obviously well handicapped over hurdles.
Spotlight: Collected good prize at Bellewstown (2m1f, good) in July and has remained in good form since; kept on from poor position to take third in Listed handicap at Listowel (2m, good to yielding) last month and could plausibly have untapped potential over 2m4f; shortlisted.
Spotlight: Made very good progress in early part of this year, looking well suited by step up to 2m5f (from 2m) when completing hat-trick at Kempton (good to soft) in February; below form after making jumping error there in March but may improve again this season; respected.
Spotlight: Fourth in Greatwood Hurdle here (2m, good) last November and kept on from poor position to fill same spot in Imperial Cup at Sandown (2m, good to soft) in March; unexposed over 2m4f but, on balance, others appeal more.
Spotlight: Improved with experience over hurdles last season and won Lingfield maiden (2m3f, soft) by 9l in February; makes handicap debut after eight-month absence and in a much tougher race; further progress required.
Spotlight: Won Grade 2 novice here (2m5f, good to soft) in November 2023 and returned from long layoff with quite encouraging run in January but subsequent form was very disappointing; others have much less to prove.
Spotlight: 2-4 since switched to hurdling this term; ended up with too much to do when ridden very patiently in valuable series final at Worcester (2m4f, good) last month but remains open to improvement.
Spotlight: Veteran who has often run well at this track, most recently when second to East India Express on New course (2m4f, good) at end of last season; won under 10lb claimer Elliott England in February; each-way claims.
Spotlight: Half-brother to Altior; didn't make the progress that might have been expected for Nicky Henderson season but bettered his underwhelming stable debut when second of 13 at Bellewstown (2m4f, good) in August and may improve again for John McConnell.
Spotlight: Ran big race behind Saint Anapolino at Kempton (2m5f, good to soft) in February and subsequent Punchestown festival defeat is not viewed harshly but younger rivals look better handicapped here; cheekpieces removed.
Spotlight: Dual 2m4f novice winner towards end of 2024, beating a useful rival at Sedgefield (good to soft) on latter occasion; returned from break with disappointing run in April (raced too freely) but still looks interesting on this handicap debut; had wind operation during summer break.
Spotlight: Won four times for Olly Murphy last September-April (2m3f-2m4f) and signed off for him with respectable third at Bangor (2m7f, good) last month but remains on fairly tough mark for stable debut; cheekpieces refitted.
Spotlight: Won big-field handicap off today's mark here (2m5f, good to soft) in November 2023 and was creditable sixth of 25 at Punchestown festival (2m3f, yielding) in April but his record between those two runs if very mixed and he's not an easy one to predict.
Spotlight: Career-best form when winning at Uttoxeter (2m7f, good) in July and also ran very well when fourth at Chepstow (2m3f, good) this month but moves up in grade and faces a tough assignment here; 1lb wrong.
Spotlight: Fair Flat racer; took pretty well to hurdling last season and won quite valuable juvenile event at Kempton (2m, good to soft) just after Christmas but absent since well beaten on handicap debut in January (found to have irregular heartbeat) and moves up in trip in a tough race here; 3lb wrong.

Unlucky to come to grief on his recent handicap debut, FRENCH SHIP was a very promising novice hurdler last season and can gain compensation here. His stablemate Saint Anapolino made very good progress in the early part of this year and, with very good 5lb claimer Callum Pritchard enlisted, he may provide the main threat. Bowensonfire is very unexposed over this sort of trip and is next on the list, ahead of Sign Again and Montecam.[Chris Wilson] Show less
